Dive Manado – Jun/Jul 2008

Finally, the images for the trip. This has to be one of the best trips ever. My first dive trip after almost 3 years. It’s also a confirmation trip for my recontstructed eardrum. Not forgetting, the very nice people at Two Fish Divers  who gave me a little birthday surprise (complete with a delicious chocolate which Tina, the owner, baked herself). Traveling alone sucks, but celebrating my birthday with a whole bunch of strangers rox!:D

The trip was split into two parts, one at Bunaken marine park and the other at Lembeh Straits. Bunaken has some of the best wall diving in the world. One can walk through waist deep water for about 300m and suddenly drop a few hundred meters into the the blue ocean. Wall diving at it’s best. The current also provide some really good drift diving. Photography was a challenge tho.

After 3 days at Bunaken, I headed for Lembeh for some serious muck diving. The creatures underwater look somewhat odd and scary. Alot of them walk and hop rather than swim. As my housemate put it, “it’s a dumping ground for god’s creations gone wrong…” And it’s a paradise for underwater photographers.

Here are the photos. The land photos were taken with a Canon 20D and 17-40mm lens. Underwater photos were taken with an Olympus C5060.

Serene and Say Yong

2nd time in a month shooting at the Trinity Methodist Church. It’s one of my favourite. Just love the spot lights!:D And oh yes, Raffles Town Club is a pretty venue too. Being a teacher can be really fun, especially when you invite 2 classes of kids to your wedding. The kids got really excited when the couples were about to kiss… cheering their teacher on. Fantastic atmosphere in there.

As for throwing the bouquet, you have a bunch of primary school kids instead of the bridesmaids. The kids were really funny, since they probably won’t be the next to get married, they suggested, the one who gets it will get no homework. Smart!

Elaine and Ammar

Four days. Which meant, four days of fantastic food:P Ok ok… here are the photos. I was dead tired after the four days, but… satisfied:) At some point in time, I wished I was a guest… man… the party rocks!:D

Ying Min and Kelvin

A recent wedding that I shot. Very simple affair, no gate crashing and stuff. Love the church, one of the best ones I’ve been to. We had a short photoshoot session before the church service and it turned out fantastic!:D Their church wedding coordinator, Andy was really helpful and I’ll be seeing him on a wedding again soon. He then reminded me “I’ll be sending you the 17 page itinerary again…”.

chris + pris

This is one of the most happening wedding, with surprises coming from both sides of the camp. Just before the wedding, Pris sent me an email telling me about a surprise item that she will be performing for Chris. On that day itself, Chris pulled a surprise on her before she even got to her item by doing a solo singing performance. Just when Chris thought it’s over, Pris walked on stage with her friends and belted out “I will follow you” with props and all. Fantastico!:D

Performances and surprises aside, Chris’s dad speech was especially touching. Just when I thought it’s over, the couple delivered another tear jerking speech. By the end of the night, I was totally dehydrated. Thanks for having me on such a wonderful night:D

Lay Sie and Wymen

Having an outdoor solemnization puts one under the mercy of the weather. It was scorching hot when I reached Chijmes. Just when the couple reached the venue, a heavy mass of clouds sheltered them from the sun. Right after the solemnization, the rain started pouring. Very blessed:) The lunch venue was pretty impressive too:D
