Sydney day #1

First day was great! Because I slept from 10am to 3pm… waking up to find that… the light here makes everything beautiful. Weather was great at about 20degC. I took extremely late lunch, ok I promise, I won’t do that again. Instead of my original plan to go to the city, I decided to take a walk at the park with my sis. It was nice and relaxing, no rush, no hurry while we waited for my bro-in-law’s call to bring us out for dinner.

We ended up at Bondi beach area to try out the “world renowned” (I’m took this from the menu) pork ribs from Hurricane. As the name suggested, it really blew us away. So tasty that I finished a full slab on my own… it’s about the size of 1.5 times A4 paper (and I don’t mean the thickness). Only if they served non-aussie beer… (the first steps to fatten myself up!)

Here are some random images…

Low maintenance baby

2 days ago, I was talking to mum and dad about my upcoming trip to Sydney to visit my sister, who’s expecting a baby boy in Sept. Then she mentioned that my sister said when her baby is born, she’ll be so busy and not have time to do alot of things. Then came my mum’s assurance, she said, “if your baby boy is like your brother (which is me), then you’ll have plenty of time. You only need to wake up a little earlier to bathe him, give him some food and he’ll sleep for the next couple of hours… nothing wakes him up.”

Till now, things hasn’t changed much, of course, with the exception of “bathing me”. Mum said I didn’t cry when I was delivered, doctor have to smack me till I cry (I think that’s the usual procedure). Come to think of it, I think I might have fallen asleep then.

Just another day in the madhouse

I was telling my housemate about getting a file to file my toenails, ok, not for vanity sake, it’s more like salvage work.

W: I can’t find a file rough enough to file my toenails at Watson’s…

N: Rough? I have a bastard file, definitely will work

W: Yah right! It’ll take out my toe as well.

N: Hmmm… come to think of it, I have a smaller one, maybe can use that.

W: So what do you call that? Little bastard?:P

N: …

Another photographer off the shelf:)

Congratulations to our good friend Ron the “shutterbug” who just proposed to his long time gf. Nicely executed move in a private pool somewhere in Phuket. And “YES” is the answer.

Hey, how about 08 08 08 (I hear someone screamin’… CHEESEY!!)?:P Enjoy the rest of your trip there! Can’t wait to grill you for the details (you know… the size of your… ahem! diamond:P) when you are back:)

A little trivia – Weddings in early hours

Was reading a little book at Borders today and found this piece of trivia.

“Don’t schedule the wedding for early in the morning. That will bring bad luck – and it’s not just a superstition: in the old days the groom, and sometimes even the bride, needed ample time to clean themselves up after morning farm chores, lest they risk showing up at church smelling of animals and manure. Nowadays it gives the groom a chance to recover from his bacherlor party or whatever antics went on the night before.”

I think nowadays, people start early because it gives the “sisters” ample time to “tekan” the groom and the groomsmen. And also… the photographer gets to eat some breakfast as well, although I’d very much prefer to sleep. (as if the rest of the party doesn’t?:P)

I’m at City Hall…

…and i just want to say Hello world!:)

It’s nice to see the “seem so busy” people in business suits walking by. I think I need a new laptop, just so I can start doing my editing outdoors (and stop being cooped up in my little white box). My current Sony VAIO is domesticated, with ultra short battery life. If only someone invented VIAGRA for laptops… woohoo!!:) *suffering from overdose of VIAGRA… spam ads…*

Let there be tomorrow.

Met David and Vanessa earlier today to deliver their photos. It was great seeing them again:) Van is the bride who commented about my wrinkles. This time round, David commented on how much weight I lost. Then it occured to me that I haven’t been eating well. Losing appetite plus really bad meal discipline contributed to the horrible weight loss. I remembered looking in the mirror and asking, is it because of the beard or the sunken cheekbones? Trousers are looser now. It’s not a good thing. I hope to snap out of this tomorrow. Yes, I said, tomorrow.

What do you do?

Two incidences, two different responses.

While at the traffic lights yesterday, I heard some sounds of screeching tyres and saw two cars collided right in front of me. It’s probably like 3-5 meters away. A fast oncoming car got banged by a turning car and the car skidded a little and landed just beside me. I saw both drivers safe, I shook my head (gave a silent verdict) and drove off. I know I was having a helluva crap day. But when I looked at the rear mirror, I wondered, why didn’t I stop to help, a little guilt crept onto me.

At Borders today, I was walking past the stationery section, and a stack of notebooks dropped right in front of me. No, I didn’t touch them at all. I picked them up and stacked them neatly onto the shelf again. I felt a little happy about doing that.

While walking away, I thought of the incident that happened yesterday. And I found a new ability, I can choose. Little events in life that taught me something.
