Finally I got to sleep before 2am for the past 3 weeks? Things are slowing down abit on my side as I recover from the 3 weeks of editing/shooting/website updating. Finally I can take my meals at normal times and leave the house to get some fresh air. The only time I left the house for the past 3 weeks was to run errands and meet clients for dinner.
The other day, me, Chris+Pris checked out this Japanese restaurant, which Nick told me was really really nice. According to him, he wasn’t shown a menu and the chef recommended him based on what he likes. To him, that’s the best ever japanese food he ever had in Singapore. When asked about the bill, I realized it’s one of those “it better be good” prices. So we decided to try it out. I reached a little late and both of them were already seated. First thing they said was, “there is a menu!!”. I’m like… ok. Browsing through the menu, I understand how they could chalk up that “better be good” bill.
We picked out food randomly with some recommendation from the waitress. Had yellow-tail sashimi (die die must have), sea urchins, soba (since when green noodles taste so good?), tomatos… etc. The prices of sashimi is well… “better be good”. And it turned out to be freaking good!! I never knew sashimi tasted like that ever?! I used to think they all taste the same.
Ok, so where’s this place. It’s at Devonshire road (just beside the SPC kiosk along Killeney Road) and it’s called Sushi Yoshida. It’s right beside this restaurant called “Bar-Stop”. If you don’t mind paying a little premium for good japanese food, this is the place to go.
any indication on this “better be good” pricing?
If it’s “too good for me” kind of prices, then I’m better off going to another that offers “mai hiam buay pai” pricing.
depends wht u order. we manage to keep it under 100 per person. my housemate did abt 150. each serving of sashimi (5pcs) starts from 25… to about 90 i think. but if you go there… it’s a must try.
Thanks for introducing this place to us! U converted me into a sea urchin lover (the cooked ones though… heheh) =) Now that we are back… where should our next advneture be? =) Btw, Chris and I like this song you chose for ur site. Very relaxing and the lyrics are quite nice. =)
No worries:) Thanks for the treat… next one will be on me ya:) Btw, that was the first time I tried sea urchin too. I guess I gave you guys that… “oh I know this” look (quite convincing eh?):P Maybe we should try the steamboat place you guys mentioned.
I love this song so much so that I was pretty sure I was going to use this on the website. So I wrote to the author and asked him for permission. Told him that the song gave me a very laid back feeling…
Hahaha… it was Chris who treated.. lol.. =P
REALLY? It was ur first too? Man, u sure gave us that ‘I know this.. (inside out)’ look! Hehehe. Sure did ‘smoked’ me… I’ll tell you about the steamboat place another time… kinda like diminishing marginal returns when we went there again recently before sushi yoshida. Am thinking of Buko Nero, Italian+Asian fusion. Keen? =P
Oh wow, that’s very considerate of you to ask for permission from the author..yeah.. Chris said it gives him a laidback feel too. =)
hehe, same lah, thanks to both of u!:D
let’s try buko nero then!! no spaghetti tho… unless they provide chopsticks. did u say asian?:P when r u guys free? let me know ok?
Hahaha… not sure got chopsticks but no problemo… got this booklet that has LOTS of places to chose from to try out on our food adventure. =) How about next week? Btw, Chris & I wanna visit Mr. Bone Setter soon… u wanna go? Lead us to our ‘slaughter’? Heeeee…. =D We’re thinking of this Sat late morning if we can get a slot with him and if you are not on shoot and wanna go. Hehehe. Text us?
ah… finally going to see him eh:P I’ll sms you his number in a while. You can call and find out if he’s free on Sat. If I’m not doing anything on Sat, I’ll definitely join you guys. I probably need a rub from him as well:)
Let’s do Italian soon ya!:D
